On Sunday's (April 29) Men Stableford Event(18 holes), Tom Chee won Flight I and Mike Silva (left) won Flight II. In this Stableford format, the player accumulates -or is deducted- points according to the performance in each hole as follows: Double Bogey or worse -3 points; Bogey -1 point; Par 0 (zero) points; Birdie +2 points; Eagle +5 points; Double Eagle +8 points. Tom Chee came in with a total of +16 points (net) and Mike Silva came in with +18 points (net). Now, Mike and Tom have the edge over the other family members: Tom beat former GHS golf player Travis Chee (nephew who came in with +13 points) and Mike beat brother Anthony Silva (he came in 9th) to make it two in a row, one "unofficial" 9 hole tournament the day before and this "official" win. Neither brother can hide their feelings when they come on top, Mike's favorite saying is: "Anthony is calling 1822", when you ask him what does he mean?, he answers, "He is calling 911 twice!". Well, all for the fun of the game!!
Other top finishers in Flight I were: Marcus Tulley (10) and Paul Acosta (8). The other top finishers in Flight II were: Steve Gurley (17), Brian Rohrer (13) and Nelson Leonard (4). After the event, players gathered to watch a little golf on TV and eat some lunch before going out again for another nine holes.... what good weather can do for your "fair weather" golfers! PICTURES OF THE WINNERS WILL FOLLOW LATER.
