THINKING POSITIVE

Two friends (Dave, an amateur and Rick, a golf professional) were playing a round together. Dave kept missing his short putts to the left, to the point where he was really getting frustrated and upset, even at Rick, who had nothing to do with Dave's putting problems. Rick, knowing that Dave thought that he was pulling his putts, said, "You are not pulling your putts. Your stroke looks OK, but I can see that you are aiming left. Change your aiming and you'll do better". Dave would have none of that. He was stubborn to a fault.... And of course, his putts kept missing to the left.

Rick said one more time, "Dave, look, let me help you and show you" He placed a club on the ground, parallel to Dave's shoulders. Even with the obvious, Dave said, "That's because I have an open stance. I'm just shutting the face with the right hand, I have to do it MY WAY!". Finally, Rick said, "OK, do it your way. You need a good licking anyway". So Dave missed a few more, but Rick said nothing.

After a while, Dave said, "At least you are keeping your mouth shut. I rather you do that than continue to criticise my aiming. Why can't you show me how to stop my right hand from coming over the top of the left? I challenge you to say something positive".

Rick thought for a few seconds, then said, "Something positive uh? Sure, here it is: I'm positive that if you don't change your aiming, you are going to positively keep missing left!" ... Moral(s) of the story: 1) you can continue geetting the same results... or you can change your fundamentals! 2) The word "positive" has more than one meaning!
