Jonathan Avery returned to form and captured the wind-swept 2007 City Championship. Jonathan is a 4 time past champion. His score, a 168, the highest in the last 25 years, was mostly due to the difficult windy conditions. Bruce Jones, last year triple champion (City, MGA and Senior), defended his senior championship but came in second in the City Overall and MGA Championships. Dave Lambert was first net in all three categories: City, Senior and MGA championships. His net score was a 146, 4 over par. Though only thirteen players participated in the event, it did not lack in quality with strong hitting Jason Armstrong and Kenny Bean giving all a "run for their money", when after the first day of competition, Jonathan was tied for first with 2 other players, one player (Bean), was one behind and one more player, Sonny Clark (our first ever Senior Champion in 2005) begun the last day only two behind. Bruce Jones started the last day three behind, and though he had the best score of the day on Sunday, it was not enough to overtake Jonathan. Dave Hill, who was tied for first after the first day, ended up having to withdraw before the start of the second round as he could not stop a bothersome nose bleed that was aggravated by the windy conditions. Congratulations to the winners!!
