MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT

Our season continues on good notes. Our Memorial Tournament drew sixteen 2-Man teams in two flights (Left: Andrew Dominguez & partner David Bischoff with Ruben Sanchez & partner Ray Bradford. More pictures on right by scrolling down). The weather was good and the golf was fun. For me, it was fun to see how different people reacted to the combination format (6 Holes Best Ball, 6 Holes Scramble and 6 Holes Alternate Shots), in which, as expected, the Alternate Shots format was most difficult to handle, but, the most fun to play... and watch. It requires a special frame of mind, almsot like playing individually, but with more responsibility for every shot: you only have one shot that counts, because there is only one ball in play, but if you mess up, you feel double bad because you feel you let someone else down, almost like "darn it, he does not deserve to lose because my bad shot". Yes he does! You guys agreed to be a team!
RESULTS "A" FLIGHT: 1st (62.7) Brian Dominguez & Robert Dimas; 2nd (64.3) Paul Dimas & Paul Acosta; 3rd (65.7) Tom Chee & Travis Chee. RESULTS "B" FLIGHT: 1st (67.0) Mike Silva & Andrew Blanco; 2nd (68.2) Phil Allen & Dave Lambert; 3rd (71.2) Skip Curley & Emmett Francis.
After the tournament, we hosted nine 2-Man teams in a shootout (playing alternate shots). Kenny Bean & Clavin Begay won the shootout in a "chip-off" on the last hole against Mike Silva & Tom Chee. Third place were Danny Sanchez & long hitting Josh Styron.

Thanks for the good time while visiting my family. Good memories were stirred. I'm glad my uncles have taken up the game and hope the golf course gets better. I know those roughs are tough to deal with, perhaps your superintendent will realize that. Where did all the weeds in the fairways come from? Tough to deal with government at times. Write me back and don't forget to call me when you fly across the Pacific!!
