MY APOLOGIES TO

...all of the readers and golfers who have not abused this service. Effective immediately, the "comment moderation" feature has been activated permanently and all comments will be read before being published.
While in Phoenix, on December 27, I posted the last blog of 2007. Upon my return to Gallup, a local golfer called me on January 2 to inform me that someone had written a pretty ugly comment on the blog which was pretty defamatory and inaccurate. I would have left it published if it was signed with a recognizable and veryfiable name (I've been called worse) had it not been signed with a boggus name implying that it had been written by Mr. Bob Weekes, our golf course maintenance superintendent. Only someone very ignorant could have thought that such comment would be humorous or credible, whatever the intent was.
We all realize that this action does not represent the majority of the people and golfers in Gallup, who no matter how angry they might get at me or Mr. Weekes, have mostly taken a more direct and sincere path to voice their concerns.
To end, let me state the following: Mr. Weekes and I agree on many more issues than those that we disagree on, the main of which is to bring this course and operation to the best possible course and services we are capable of offering. We are both professionals and realize we cannot agree in every area all of the time, no one can. As the golf professional, I will truly appreciate all support, respect and courtesies given to Mr. Weekes. No matter how much anyone disagrees with either one of us or think of our opposites, please think of our common ground first, where we are 100% united.
This blog will continue to have the same intent as it had from its genesis: inform our golfers about "Golf in Gallup" and from time to time, in the world of golf. Let me remind you, if there are any feats that we do not know about, let us know and we will publish these so that other golfers get informed as well. Our e-mail address is published above.
On behalf of all of our staff, we appreciate your support and sincere and constructive input. Thank you and sincerely yours, Alex Alvarez, PGA Professional
