GALLUP CATHOLIC SCHOOL SCRAMBLE BRINGS 72 PLAYERS
Most of the time, it is very difficult to appreciate the work that needs to be done to make a tournament be successful, and therefore, recognize the hard work of people who actually make it happen. Just because we put an entry form list out, it doesn't mean that we will get it filled up. The work of the golf professional, while fairly complicated in some ways, it is actually easy once you know the steps and preparation that it takes for different events. We follow pre-determined steps and common sense; handicapping and rules are our expertise, making groups and hole assignments takes knowledge and practice, BUT, WE COULD NOT DO ANY OF THAT, OR FOR THAT MATTER, WE WOULDN'T NEED TO, IF WE HAD AN EMPTY TOURNAMENT LIST. That is where the organizers, those whom I call "Professional Volunteers" come in. Without them, without their enthusiastic work, phone calls during and after work, questions, contacts, visits and donations of money, needs and time, a tournament would not happen. This time, Gallup Catholic School owes most of the success of this event to Paul & Ivonne Andrade, and in not much smaller ways, to Marie Chioda and Ernie Abeita: without the support and time from these four people this tournament would not have had 18 teams, and particularly not in such a windy day when the gusts of reached 45mph! Thank you all! The following are the results for Gross and Net Prizes: GROSS: 1st (60) Tom Chee, Calvin Nez, Dot Upshaw & Jerry Nez; 2nd (62) Charlie Chavez Jr., Eddy Jaramillo, Eric Lovato & Mitch Murphy; 3rd (64) Dennis Baretinicich, Luke Baretinicich, Scott Hamilton & Johnny Hamilton and 4th (65) Jason Gonzales, Mark Herrera, Rafael Rodriguez & Ricki Luna. NET: 1st (57.5) Scotty Armstrong, Marqui Armstrong, Brent Bischoff & Don Marzilli; 2nd (58.5) Peggy Ricks, Kenny Bean, Willie Ross & Albert Lucero; 3rd (60) Sammy Chioda, Giovanni Chioda, Roy Tucker & Dean Harris, and 4th (61) Jay Mason, Michael Mason, Matt Collar & Marcus Tulley. Play was followed by a delicious steak dinner at the gym of Gallup Catholic School. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!
