THAT"S WHY THERE ARE PLAYING... PART 2
After Saturday's round, our good friend Rex Good who always takes the field against any takers who want to bet on Tiger Woods, must be pretty happy... and I think he'll be safe: Tiger is 7 shots behind, and in a tie for 10th place. So, if he is going to win his 15th major and 1st major coming from behind on a Sunday, not only he has to make up 7 shots on two people, but all other 7 players in front of him must not play good enough to win. Odds are, Rex, who took a licking last year, as he seemed to bet only in events Woods won, will get some of his investment back. So now, WHO DO YOU THINK IS GOING TO WIN? I saw on CBS that 17 out of the last 18 winners have come from the final pairing, with the only exception having been Zack Johnson. You have two tied at 11 under; both of them very solid players, one, Angel Cabrera, has already won a major, and one, Kenny Perry, may not have many more chances at 48, but has been playing like a 36 year old the last three years. Jim Furyk is no push-over and neither is Steve Stricker who has been knocking on the door fairly often in majors. Given the leaderboard, my guess is no one farther than 5 shots behind will win. But, what do I know? Maybe Phil, who is tied with Woods, will be inspired by playing with Mr. #1 in the world and pull it off! I am glad that The Masters committee decided to set up the course for scoring, I believe that it will be a good finish, and no one in the committee will be "embarrassed for the course" if someone comes from behind with a 64 or 65 to win it.
