FIRECRACKER OPEN
There was true fire in this year's Firecracker Open, at least it seemed that way. Mitch Murphy and Nani Gonzales, were "so hot" in the Alternate Shot format of the tournament, "that everyone will have to play on burnt fairways for the next 4 years!" they said. Well, we all hope that literally, this does not happen. Mitch and Nani had two natural birdies, #2 and #4, and played holes 1-6 in one under par in this tough format that averaged 6 over par among the participants! This helped them gain a net score of 57.8 that gave them the lowest score of all three ("RED", "WHITE" & "BLUE") flights. Mitch and Nani won the "WHITE" flight.
In the "RED" Flight, the winners were Marcus Tulley & Nelson Leonard. They scored a net 63.3. Marcus' "John Daly" style of is helping him to make it a habit of finishing high in many events: hit it far, go find it , hit it again. Way to go Marcus and keep it up! Next, in order, were: 2nd (64.7) Calvin Begay & Mike Thompson and in a tie for 3rd were two teams at 67.7: Bud Cadell & Rex Good with Andrew Dominguez & Tommy Pino.
In the "WHITE" Flight, following Mitch and Nani were: 2nd (65.9) Bill Clark & Johnny Thomas; 3rd (66.4) Bill Armstrong & Jason Armstrong and 4th (67.1) Andrew Blanco & Brian Rohrer.
In the "BLUE" Flight, the winners were Willie Ross & Ronnie Pinto with a 65.4. They were followed by: 2nd (69.2) Cliff and Clinton Desiderio; 3rd (71.1) Rudy Piano & Victor Garcia and 4th (73.3) Kenny Payton & Kent Wilson.
