GALLUP'S "MEXICAN OPEN"

With 55 players, the "Mexican Open" hosted it's usual family/friends oriented event. This time, it was also a Memorial for Alfred Rodriguez. This was the 10th edition of this event that is anything but "All Mexican" or "All Open". It is only the name of the tournament, however, it is more appropriate that one might think of. The one thing that is important is that the event is very family oriented and there are many "one time a year" golfers who play it only to play with a family member or a friend. There is no event in Gallup that has more father-son combinations or people related to each other as this one (here, posing on Hole #1, we have Joe "Coco Bear" Abeyta and son Jonathan Abeyta -who recently came back from defending our country in Iraq-, Brian Macdonald and Eddie Armijo).
Alfred Rodriguez, who passed on last year, was the brother of Edward Rordriguez (right with son Mario). Family and friends truly celebrated Alfred's legacy of friendship and family ties with this 10th edition of the "Mexican Open". This event is a scramble that is played without a handicap: family and friends playing with loved ones, regardless of the skill. The results are as follows:
1st (64): Simon Paredes, John Paredes, Goyo Paredes & Tony Sanchez; 2nd (69) Andrew Blanco, Brice Blanco, Brian Rohrer & Brice Rohrer, in 3rd (70) Bud Knight, Scott Knight, Ed Rodriguez & Mario Rodriguez. Several teams were tied at 71.
