The golf tournament fund raising season has come to an end. Sunday, September 30, we hosted the GHS Dance Team (better known for some as the “Pom-Poms”) Scramble. The tournament drew a total of 64 players in sixteen 4-Man teams, which unlike other earlier fundraisers in the year, it was requested by Jessica Villanueva, chair person of the event, to be played in single groups of four instead of “Eightsomes” by pairing two teams together. The result was a round of approximate 4 hours and 20 minutes instead of 6 or more hours. Way to go Jessica – (and thank you)!! While the players were on the golf course, this year, coach Christie Tiley and her students, treated us to a little “Sample Dance” by the girls… and now we know why is it called the “Gallup Dance Team”… THESE GIRLS ROCK!! (if some of the players were half as good as these girls are in dancing, we would have had a bunch of ties for first!) The final results are as follow: GROSS: 1st (57): Tom Chee, Marcus Tulley, Calvin Begay & Mike Thompson (pictured above left without Tom Chee); 2nd (59): Olsen Arviso, Orville Arviso, Clarence Peterson & Scott Hamilton; 3rd (60): Ruben Sanchez, Buck Worker, Andrew Blanco & Chris Saucedo. NET: 1st (53.1): Robert Padilla, Richard Madrid, Dale Rich & Tommy Pino; 2nd (53.3): Bill Nechero, Larry Binkley, John Samford & Frank Gonzales; 3rd (53.5): Steve Gurley, Nani Gonzales, Charlie De La Torre & Eddie Jaramillo. Hey! We are already talking about 2008 tournament dates!!! See you then!!
Beautiful day for the tournament, besides, course still showing signs of RMCH weed removal demands, which is good. Now, please don't let the weeds grow anymore please!! Now, if you can cut down the water a little -course is too wet most of the time- and the fairways... well, you'll have a nice play to play golf!!
