Our second poll, unofficially (not all golfers read the blog, would you please help us by spreading the word about our site?), gave us a 5 to 2 answer in favor of playing a single group of 4, opposed to playing in two teams when people play scrambles (sixsones or eightsomes). This, I am sure, is because of the speed of play. The last two scrambles of the season were played in teams of four playing by themselves: play was faster by about 60-90 minutes! But the scores of the top 10 teams, were also lower by an average of about 3.7 strokes. Thus, both sides have a valid argument.
During our Navajo Fair tournament, all 4-Man teams were divided in two, 2-Man teams that were paired with people from other teams. Play was in groups of 4 and several things were accomplished: 1) Teams remained as teams of 4 people 2) Play was in foursomes 3) Each foursome had representatives of two teams keeping score for each other 4) Play was much faster.
Having that in mind, our superintendent, Bob Weekes, as a golfer himself, suggested that we have a new poll, and here it is: In scrambles only: 1) Play in Foursomes, each team of 4 playing by themselves; 2) Reduce all scrambles to teams of three and play sixsomes 3) Play in Foursomes, with two teams being represented by 2-Man teams (as in the example above) 4) Reduce all Scrambles to teams of 2.

We were told by none othe than Dav id Bischoff, the "golf committee chairman" that there is a 4-5 year plan by Bob Weekes. Can you please publish it for the benefit of informing the public?

I have submitted a simple Long Term Plan to the Executive Director of Administrative Services, Judi Starkovich and to each member of the Golf Committee, to include Alex Alvarez, PGA. The plan was what I felt to be a necessary wish list. it seems to have been favorably recieved by both the Committee and by the Executive Director. The City seems to be receptive and supportive at this point. I do not feel that I am in a position to publish it as it is with either the Executive Director or a member of the Committee to do this. There is no secret plan and I sure wouldn't want to do anything to jeopardize any progress to Fox Run in the interest of the golfers, who would appreciate the progress.
