Lets do a little "recap" of our first official poll ever: We asked the following question: "Who do you think is the greatest golfer ever, Jack or Tiger?" Here are the official results: Golfers who were Age 50 & Under: Tiger 3 Votes, Jack 4 Votes; Voters 51 & Over: Tiger 1 Vote, Jack 4 Votes. I (56) voted for Jack. So, the poll gave 8 votes to Jack and only 4 to Tiger. I was truly surprised. To tell you the truth, I thought Tiger would win hands down, particularly with the "Under 50 Crowd", but even in that age group, Jack won 4 to 3. No, we are not the "Golf Channel" or "PGATour.com", but hey, it just goes to show you that in Gallup, Jack Nicklaus is still The Best until Tiger Woods breaks his records. It was fun...
Now, we have another poll: "If you play scrambles, do you favor playing in a group with two teams and spend 6 hours on the course, or allow each team left alone and spend 4.5 hours on the course? We'll have more polls about tournaments, I'm sure you'll be surprised by the answers.
OK Coming UP: a one day tournament for the Elks Lodge 1440 will be held by Ernie Abeita (In photo he is saying: "Mark Your Ball. There is too many of us!") on Saturday, October 20. It will be a 3-Man Scramble. All teams will be made the night before at the Elks Lodge... so you need to get signed up before Saturday morning!! Entry Fee is $75.00 and you can contact Ernie at 870-3600.
There is nothing planned for the following weekend, but Ray Moore, who was is recovering from radiation treatments, wants to have an event on the first weekend of November to "Say thank you to all those who have helped throughout his recovery and to those who participated in the Ceremonial Tournament (organized by Ernie Abeita) on August 11". If held, it will be a 3 or 4 man scramble and pairings will pair up two teams together. We will keep everyone posted! On the right, on "Alex's Favorites", click on "Samsung Invitational... Invitation Process Flawed". Question: How come Michelle Wie, who is not playing well this year, who has missed so many cuts and who has never won a tournament is invited and Natalie Gulbis, is out? There is something wrong! Annika Sorenstam is also out... and so it the U.S. Amateur Champion! Also, you can go to a Photo Album of several pictures taken the last 12 months: for that, click on "2007 - Photo Album" (Note: if you do not have an "account" with Walgreens, you need to open one (free of charge) in order to view the photos)

PLEASE DON'T EDIT THE BLOG. LET'S CONTINUE TO FIND OUT WHAT PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY IN OUR COMMUNITY WITHOUT CENSORSHIP. BLOGGS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY ARE ANONYMOUS OR USIGNED. OH, I FORGOT, THIS IS GALLUP. WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH REST OF THE COOUNTRY. AS FOR PERSONAL ATTACKS, IF THE TRUTH CONSTITUTES A PERSONAL ATTACK, THEN WE APPOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE. HOWEVER, IT'S UNLIKELY TO CHANGE.

ReplyDeleteTo "More Public":
ReplyDeleteThis blog was started as an informational service to our local golfers and will continue as such. It is not a "regular national blog" and most people have enjoyed the information within, including most comments, but, like it or not, I have the obligation to censor all personal attacks because this "blog" or publication is not intended for that purpose.
You are right: this is Gallup, and not the rest of the country. That is why this is different. Our blog is mostly read by a goup of local golfers who know all of the characters involved. No one else around the country is interested in our affairs.
You are welcome to question or make any comments, negative, positive or non commital about any policies, course conditions, tournaments, decisions and even people's decisions, including myself. All will be published as per the rules under the title of the blog.
Saying the truth is not a personal attack, only when it is worded as such. If you want to attack a person's character or decisions, do it in person... or at least sign it and I will forward it to them. It carries more credibility. You know our phone number, address and e-mail information.
If you want another type of blog... well, you can start one yourself.
Alex
