The 2009 Elks tournament featured seventeen 3-Man teams in a "scramble" format in a very windy day. T

he winning team was:
Bud Knight, Rafael Rodriguez & Dave Bigley. In second place were
Travis Chee, Roger Morris & our friend, now Tucson resident,
Lee King (
I miss our 10 cent chipping games to tires and swept snow in the winter!). Next was the team of
Mel Rousseau, Bruce Belone & Porky Abeita and in fourth place were
Clarence Peterson, Gilbert Ramirez & Kenny Abeita. The event was very
competitive and the scores were very close. Left,
Paul Dimas teeing off on #12, whose team ended up in 5
th place, could not make the putts fall for his team.
As always, these types of tournaments are not possible without the enthusiastic participation of players of all skills, new and old golfers. Right below, new "golf family member" of Gallup,
Dennis Fuhs, whose team (with
Keith Begay & Emmett Francis) ended up in 7
th place. The tournament was followed by a steak
lunch and awards presentation at the Elk Club 1440. First time tournament chairman,
Ed Clah, did a very good job in getting everything ready and coordinating all events with other scheduled events at the Elks lodge.
See you next year!
